A Message to Our Families and Supporters
President & CEO
With so much uncertainty accompanying the sudden changes to our daily routines, we want you to know that the Sunrise Association, its Day Camps and Year-Round Programs are all operating and continuing to care for our children and staff in whatever ways we can.
While we have temporarily postponed all of our camper reunions that were scheduled for the month of March, our Sunrise on Wheels programs are still operating in those hospitals that remain open to us. Any fundraisers and other group activities that were scheduled for March or early April have likewise been postponed, or in some cases moved into cyberspace as virtual events. Our office policies as well have been modified to limit travel, upgrade cleaning and disinfection protocols, and allow for our staff to work remotely when possible. Our goal in all of these areas is to maintain the safest possible environment for our staff and children, while continuing the important, life-affirming work that our families have come to rely on us for.
I know that some people have been asking if we expect to run our summer camp programs this year. The answer is “ABSOLUTELY!” The start of camp is still several months down the road, but registration is already underway and our staff is hard at work planning a fun, wondrous and safe camp season for all of our children. Our registrars and camp directors are here to take your calls and questions, and we encourage all of our families to continue signing up for what we know will be a magical summer.
At times like this – when the future seems unclear and events seem out of our control – we naturally feel frightened. We also know that for too many of our families and children, this is how they live every day. And so we will continue to respond with hope because we believe in hope, and with care and compassion because this is who we are. Our commitment remains unshakeable; what Sunrise was to our families last week it will continue to be in the weeks and months ahead, no matter the circumstances.
Stay safe, take care of your families, and please let us know if we can be of any help in any way.
