Sunrise Highlights

We are so grateful to all of our donors who make our mission possible.

A Generous Grant from Old Oaks Foundation

Sunrise Day Camp-Pearl River recently received a grant of $26,000 from the Old Oaks Foundation for a new mini golf course and sponsorship for the 2022 Walkathon.  Members of Old Oaks Country Club generously voted to support Sunrise, as a local not-for-profit that serves the community.

Sunrise Day Camp-Pearl River has received more than $86,000 in donations from the Foundation over the last three years. These generous donations helped Sunrise produce our virtual Sunrise on Screens programming at the start of the pandemic and – along with the Laura Rosenberg Foundation, the Sterling National Bank Foundation and Barri & Joseph Savasta – created two outdoor S.T.E.A.M. classrooms at the Pearl River camp.

Holiday Magic in a Box for Everyone!

With COVID making it challenging to gather in person for our campers, Sunrise once again had a virtual holiday celebration. Staff from all eight of our camps packed and shipped close to 1,000 Holiday in a Boxes to our children. Inside the boxes were small gifts and interactive games which coincided with a virtual program for a New Year’s Eve celebration – Sunrise style!

Special thanks to the donors who made this year’s Holiday in a Box possible – The Faber Future Foundation, AvalonBay Communities, The Harris Family, MSC Industrial Supply, and Share4Kids.

The Gift of Sunrise on Ice

Some of our Long Island camper families recently got the opportunity for some post-holiday fun at Disney on Ice! A big thank you to Blue Ocean Wealth Solutions, Fusion Family Wealth, Grassi, and Rivkin Radler for generously donating their boxes at the new UBS Arena for the afternoon and evening shows of Disney on Ice. We love creating memorable opportunities for our campers to share with their families. Sunrise is the gift that keeps on giving.

Holidays With Horizon Day Camp-Baltimore

Horizon Day Camp closed out the 2021 calendar year in style with a special holiday-themed “Sunday Funday” program hosted at The Park School in Baltimore. The program featured a holiday brunch and crafts carnival. The carnival included an array of activities with slime, snow globes, 3D printed snowflakes, and more! It was an incredible reunion with campers and counselors coming together for a special holiday celebration —a day filled with magic and fun.
