Sunrise on Wheels Program Opens in New Jersey
Join us in celebrating the opening of our newest in-hospital Sunrise on Wheels programs in one of our newest Sunrise Day Camp regions – Greater Philadelphia!
Sunrise on Wheels provides a joyful camp-like experience to children awaiting treatment in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology units of affiliated hospitals. Our goal is to provide fun and laughter to patients and their siblings, while offering respite for their families, during their time in the hospital.
In March, we “rolled into” three pediatric oncology treatment centers at two affiliated hospitals – Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware; Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) on their main campus, and at CHOP’s their outpatient satellite treatment facility in Voorhees, NJ. The team of volunteers, headed by Coordinator, Jenni Rebetti, is looking forward to bringing lots of smiles and laughter to children in the Greater Philadelphia region. And we can’t wait to register and welcome these children and their siblings to a summer of Sunrise fun at Sunrise Day Camp-Greater Philadelphia Region this summer! (You can find our eligibility requirements and online enrollment for summer camp here.)
Friends of Sunrise Men’s Night
A special thank you to event chairs Evan Cagner, Ray Davoodi, Nish Doshi, Adam Good, Sumeer Kakar, David Miller, Harold Morgenstern, Michael Ramin, Michael Rosenberg, Joe Soffer and our friends at The Roslyn Hotel for hosting a successful Friends of Sunrise Men’s Networking Night! It was a fantastic night being back together after two years to share our mission with new friends and to kick off the Friends of Sunrise Cocktail Party and Auction on May 12.
HorizonWALKS Thank You Celebration!
Friends of HorizonWALKS recently gathered to celebrate the 2021 campaign that raised more than $235,000 for Horizon Day Camp. HorizonWALKS Coordinator, Ciera Gallub said, “Before we do it all over again, we wanted to take pause and thank our incredible volunteers and donors who are so passionate about our Horizon Day Camp mission. They give so generously and help in so many ways.”
Special thanks to Dave and Treva Stack for hosting the event at Papi’s Tacos in the trendy Hampden neighborhood. With outdoor seating that included cozy heaters, guests enjoyed an evening of fun and fellowship among friends. HorizonWALKS Chair Rich Aquino praised everyone for having such big hearts, and he highlighted the impact that we make together in support of the many Horizon children and families. The goal is to make the 2022 HorizonWALKS campaign the best one yet, but on this night the simple, but sincere message was “thank you”!

Surprises from Sunrise
Surprises from Sunrise is our new in-hospital program that started when our Sunrise on Wheels programs were on hiatus. This special program sends surprise packages filled with toys, games, arts & crafts and more to children at our affiliated hospitals to add some Sunrise magic to their visits. Each package is generously sponsored by our amazing community of donors. Special thanks to our recent sponsors – Ella Nussbaum & Tie-Dye for a Cause and Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
