AvalonBay Communities Baltimore Hosts Annual Philanthropy Day
AvalonBay Communities held its annual Philanthropy Day in Arlington, Virginia, this past February. In addition to sharing an opportunity for employees to learn more about volunteer opportunities, AvalonBay Communities presented Horizon Day Camp with a check for $10,000! A community partner for the past three years, AvalonBay Communities assists Horizon Day Camp by hosting various in-kind supply drives, coordinating service projects that benefit Horizon on Wheels, providing camp move in assistance, participating with community events, and organizing a corporate volunteer day at Horizon Day Camp.
AvalonBay Communities assists Sunrise Association across multiple markets and demonstrates a wonderful commitment toward helping the children and families of Sunrise. Thank you AvalonBay Communities!
AvalonBay Communities Long Island Leads SunriseWalks Kick-off!
AvalonBay is feeling the Sunrise magic from Baltimore to Long Island and beyond! This past month, along with many other Long Island businesses’, AvalonBay Communities in Long Island hosted two internal SunriseWALKS kick-off events, gathering over 40 of their employees in support of Sunrise.
The group came together to learn about the Sunrise Association and how Avalon Bay’s involvement has impacted thousands of Sunrise campers. This year, Avalon Bay will once again be returning as a SunriseWALKS Long Island corporate team, where they will bring together their entire Long Island workforce, families, and friends to fundraise and spread awareness for SunriseWALKS.
No matter the size of your company – you can make a difference. To learn more about the exciting and fun ways to get your company involved with SunriseWALKS, contact Aileen Hoffman at 516.634.4188.
Sterling National Bank and Old Oaks Country Club Help Launch STEAM Program at Sunrise Day Camp-Pearl River
We are thrilled that our partners at Sterling National Bank (SNB) have now helped fund the inaugural STEAM/Makerspace program at Sunrise Day Camp-Pearl River.
Last year, SNB granted $25,000 to the STEAM program and newly opened Laura Rosenberg Foundation Sunrise STEAM Shack on Long Island.
In Pearl River, the $20,000 grant, in conjunction with a grant from Old Oaks Country Club, will aid in construction of two outdoor STEAM/Makerspace classrooms, the tools needed to implement the program, and the necessary specialist staff. Our youngest campers, the Acorns, will experience the program next to the Billie & George Ross Pavilion, and a second classroom will be built near the soccer field for our campers ages 5 to 16 years old. Construction is expected to begin this spring, with a grand opening in time for the 2020 camp season. We are excited to bring STEAM programming to Sunrise Day Camp-Pearl River and are grateful to our long-standing partners for helping make this possible.
PJT Partners Sets New Record with Employee
On February 27th, PJT Partners had a fun-filled evening in the office to kick off our partnership with the Sunrise Association! The event featured a raffle, live music from PJT employees, snacks, and a “cocktail war” between the different groups within the company. Almost 100 employees attended the event, which was the centerpiece of a successful fundraising push around the office. Some of the most popular raffle items included a weekend in Westhampton, a day cruise on Long Island Sound, and New York Knicks tickets. The “signature cocktails” range from margaritas to old fashioned’s, and the musicians had everything from Johnny Cash to OutKast. PJT is thrilled to be collaborating with the Sunrise Association to help bring the joys of childhood back to children with cancer and their siblings, and we’re looking forward to planning our next event
