Ruth Carol Fund: Inspiring Creativity & Ensuring a Bright Future for Horizon Day Camp
Horizon Day Camp is excited to announce an extraordinary $500,000 gift from the Ruth Carol Fund, whose generosity will bring immense joy and meaningful experiences to Maryland children with cancer and their siblings.
Half of this transformative gift—$250,000—will enhance Horizon’s fine arts program through hiring skilled specialists and expanding offerings in art, music, dance, and theater while providing new avenues for creativity, emotional expression, and personal growth. From energetic workshops to captivating performances, the newly named Ruth Carol Fine Arts Program will blossom, impacting campers for years to come.
The remaining $250,000 will establish Horizon’s first endowment, a cornerstone of long-term stability for Horizon Day Camp. The endowment will also act as a beacon, attracting other legacy donors inspired by the Ruth Carol Fund’s commitment.
Representatives Betsy Bannat and Carolanne Harris recently visited camp and warmly shared, “It’s been gratifying, heartwarming, even thrilling, to see the joy experienced by the campers. The Ruth Carol Fund is delighted to be a small part of such compassionate, much needed work.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Betsy, Carolanne, and the other Directors for their vision and belief in our mission. Their support not only enhances the present but ensures a thriving future for Horizon Day Camp.
